2026 Holiday Toy Drive

Help a Detroit kid wake up to Christmas.

Every gift goes to kids in foster care and family programs through our partner agencies, starting with Homes for Black Children in Detroit. Buy a toy from our Amazon wish list, or give to the toy fund and Emily will do the shopping.

Please order or donate by December 10 so gifts arrive before Christmas.

Two easy ways to give

1

Buy a gift from the wish list

Every toy on the list is under $30 with shipping and picked for ages 0–10 with a focus on building, science and creativity. At checkout, choose the wish list's gift address. Amazon ships it straight to Homes for Black Children, so you don't have to enter an address.

Bought a toy? Let us know at info@emilystoysforekids.org so Emily can thank you.

2

Give to the toy fund

Rather send money? Donate on GoFundMe through December 10. After that, Emily goes on a Christmas shopping spree in Michigan, buys the toys herself and drops them off. The fund covers Homes for Black Children and any other partner agencies that join us this season.

Meet Emily

This year's drive has a new leader.

Emily is running the 2026 drive. She built the Amazon wish list around what Homes for Black Children asked for: toys for kids up to age 10, with plenty of science, building and art.

In December she'll take the toy fund on a shopping spree in Michigan and drop the toys off herself. Her big brother AJ, who started Golf Fore Kids in 2017, is still in her corner.

Our story

It started on a golf course.

Emily joined our family through foster care adoption in 2016. Her story inspired her big brother, Alexander (AJ) Pace, to do something for the kids still waiting. In 2017 he started Golf Fore Kids: a charity golf scramble and toy drive that ran from 2017 through 2024, with seven outings along the way.

Every year, the toys went straight to kids in foster care and family programs through partners like Samaritas, Homes for Black Children and Brightmoor Christian Church's Christmas outreach.

2026

Now Emily's carrying it forward.

AJ's at college, and Emily doesn't golf. So she crossed out "Golf" and wrote in "Toys." Emily's Toys Fore Kids keeps the family tradition going, with Emily building the wish list and making sure every gift gets to a kid who needs it.

Questions

How does the Amazon wish list work?

Open the list, add a toy to your cart and check out. At checkout, choose the gift registry address for "Janet D. McDonald" (Homes for Black Children). Amazon ships it straight there. Please check "This is a gift" and add a gift note like "From Emily's Toys Fore Kids" so the staff know where it came from. Amazon doesn't tell us who bought what, so please email info@emilystoysforekids.org to let us know. Emily wants to thank you.

Will they see my address, or will I see theirs?

Amazon handles the shipping. You won't need to type in an address, and Amazon doesn't share it directly with buyers.

When should I order or donate?

By December 10. That gives wish list orders time to arrive and gives Emily time to shop with the toy fund before Christmas.

Who receives the gifts?

Kids in foster care and family programs served by our partner agencies. Wish list gifts ship to Homes for Black Children in Detroit (ages 0–10). Toy fund gifts go to Homes for Black Children and any other agencies that partner with us this season. Over the years we've also worked with Samaritas, Safe Families for Children and Brightmoor Christian Church.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

No. Emily's Toys Fore Kids is a family-run toy drive, not a registered nonprofit, so donations aren't tax-deductible. What you give still goes to toys for the kids.

Can I donate a toy in person, or suggest an agency?

Yes. Email us and we'll work it out with you.
